Cyndi O'Meara

By Staff Writer on

A nutritionist, but not as you know them!

Cyndi O’Meara is the outspoken and often controversial health expert who disagrees with low-fat, low-calorie diets, eats chocolate because it is good for you, cooks with full fat butter and advocates yummy food, real sugar and salt and cheating as part of a well-balanced diet.

Cyndi has a thirst for knowledge, researching and studying nutrition, diet and health issues since the eighties. Always on the cutting edge of the latest information Cyndi says, “as I know better, I teach better”.

With a genetic and family history of haemophilia, type 1 diabetes, breast cancer, dysphagia, lung cancer, autoimmunity and liver cancer, she has seen 10 of her family members pass away to the failures of modern medicine and at 54, is proud to admit that she has never taken an antibiotic, pain killer or any form of prescribed or non prescribed medication in her life.

Her health message aims to educate Australians on how to read food labels, why diets don’t work and how drugs can affect total well-being. Her ethos of vitality and empowerment is helping Australians make long last changes – changes with simple and achievable steps on how to create healthier habits, including making smarter choices about the food they choose to put into their body.

Cyndi O’Meara is also, best-selling author, speaker and founder of health education company, Changing Habits. Cyndi wrote her first book ‘Changing Habits Changing Lives’ in 1998 – it was an instant best seller and has remained on book store shelves for 14 years, the test of a book that is ahead of its time – and founded health education company, Changing Habits, following its publication. Changing Habits is an information company dedicated to providing not only books, audios, videos, e-books, programs, protocols (including her HCG Protocol which she is well-known for), reports, newsletters, healthy online clubs and support groups and social media but also organic, ethical, sustainable food and nutritional support that cannot be purchased at local markets.

Cyndi’s passion for education has led to her and Dr Steve Myers creating a 12 month Nutrition Education Course, commencing February 2015.

Cyndi now travels both nationally and internationally, spreading her message of health and nutrition and is often heard on radio, television and writes for several magazines and is loved for her unique, surprising and down-to-earth approach.

The Fit Foodie

After a few months she learnt one thing: life is better with chocolate. And apple crumble. So her experimenting began and The Fit Foodie was born.

She focuses on high-protein foods packed with good fats and nutrients. This helps maintain lean muscle and sustain my energy levels. Her recipes aim to inspire others on their clean-eating journeys. Sally has also launched an eBook and Healthy Snack Mixes, which are available here.

Sally is a self-confessed fitness and foodie addict. After moving from the UK to Australia, her attempt to ditch the apple crumbles and focus on nutrition was subject to a lot of plain low-calorie food.

For all Sally's recipes, head to her website: The Fit Foodie.
