About Us

Since launching in New Zealand in 2012, Dry July has raised more than $11 million to support people affected by cancer across the country. Funds raised in 2026 will be distributed to the organisations below, helping them continue to deliver essential support services. This impact is only made possible by the ongoing generosity of our Dry July community.

In 2026 Dry July is proudly supporting:

Cancer Support NZ (home of Look Good Feel Better) – delivering free, practical programmes and online classes that help people facing cancer feel more like themselves, regain confidence, and stay connected.

Cancer Rehabilitation Foundation (PINC & STEEL) – supporting recovery through specialised rehabilitation and exercise programmes that rebuild strength, restore function, and improve quality of life after cancer.

Prostate Cancer Foundation NZ – providing vital support for men and their families, including a freephone information line, counselling, nationwide support groups, and Prost-FIT exercise classes.

Latest Updates

Electronic Examination Beds

Auckland District Health Board has purchased examination beds which can automatically be adjusted for patients with limited mobility due to pain and other symptoms of their cancer. These adjustable beds will alleviate the discomfort some patients currently experience in preparation for clinical examination.

Recording Stories for Loved Ones

Patients in the palliative care unit at Wellington Cancer and Blood Service now have access to video and camera equipment to record their stories for and with loved ones. The equipment was purchased with funds from Dry July 2013.

Amenities at Wellington Blood And Cancer Centre

Previously, patients at the cancer centre had access to tea and coffee using only polystyrene cups. Patient feedback showed that the taste of polystyrene can be unpleasant while on chemotherapy/radiation therapy. The centre has used Dry July funds to produce ceramic mugs for patients to use instead.

The service also used funds to develop colouring books / workbooks for use during family counselling meetings where adults diagnosed with cancer have young children.

Patient Care Packs

Wellington Blood and Cancer Centre is now able to offer care packs to inpatients who may find themselves suddenly admitted without bringing along any personal hygeine items. The packs contain: toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, soap, shampoo, etc.

Packs are also available to relatives who are called in unexpectedly to stay overnight with cancer patients.

iPads for Canterbury Chemotherapy Patients

Patients receiving chemotherapy at Christchurch Hospital will now be able to borrow iPads to use while sitting and having their treatment. The iPads offer patients some entertainment and distraction to help pass the time.
