My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 Bowel cancer that had spread through his stomach in 2015, 3 months after that my little brother (3 years old at the time) was diagnosed with stage 4 medulloblastoma which is a large tumour at the stem of his brain which spread to his spinal fluids. Both dad and Jacob had a very low chance of survival and the prognosis didn’t look good.

Our whole lives were uplifted overnight to relocate to Christchurch as Jacob was flown within hours of discovering his tumour to be operated on that same night. We lived in the Ronald McDonald House alongside other families of children with cancer and other life threatening illnesses. During this time we lost a lot of beautiful children whom began to feel like extended siblings whilst both Dad and Jacob were fighting their own battles, chemotherapy, radiation, surgeries, blood transfusions.. you name it, they had the works.
We, fortunately, were so very blessed and are very lucky to have both of our boys by our side to this day. However, this is not the case for a lot of families out there.

Cancer is an unforgiving, non-discriminative and evil disease.
